CASTEC Shoring Wall System
A reinforced concrete shoring wall cast in-situ?
CASTEC TRENCHING ARM
The Castec Trenching Arm – developed over thirty years, this ground breaking
piece of technology has the ability to dig and continually cast concrete
retaining walls, subterraneously, 300mm thick and to a depth of 6 metres. A
unique and clever system saving you project time and money.
“Developed from an inspired vision”
COMPLETE JOBS FASTER
The Castec Trenching Arm can construct 1,000 m2 of shoring wall in 3 ~4 days, compared to 10 ~ 45 days for other sytems.
PRECISION
The Castec Shoring Wall system can be cast in-situ within 50 mm of adjoining property boundaries. No vibration, minimal plant time onsite compared with other systems.
COST EFFECTIVE
Less preparation and less time on-site means reduced costs. Operates in sand y soil sites, no issues with water charged grounds.

BRIAN'S STORY
In 1987 Castec’s founder, Brian Carpenter, was given a new idea for a method of doing shoring wall construction for carpark basements. Whilst working as a developer in Double Bay at the time, Brian immediately saw the potential for the concept and set about developing it. Despite industry pundits dismissing the concept as not practical, Brian’s focus was on the end game and how to get there.
During its infancy, in 1989 the technology was sent to the United States to explore further development with a subcontractor of Caterpillar. After a further eight years and considerable investment, Brian brought the technology back to Australia for a further two year testing and refinement before launching it in 1999. Over the next 10 years Brian successfully utilised the original machine on various projects before selling the company.
With a firm belief in the concept, Brian set about developing a different version of the technology. From 2008 Brian worked alongside mechanical and hydraulic engineers together with specialised machine manufacturers to realise and develop his new creation – the Castec Shoring Wall System.
Whilst focused on the development of his Castec vision, Brian also saw the emergence of the next generation of screw pile technology with the arrival of the multi-turn helix. In 2008 Brian setup Helcon as a Subcontracting company, utilising this next generation of screw piling technology. Since then, Helcon has gone from strength to strength over the years within the building and construction industry, and has enabled Brian to realise his dream and launch Castec in 2015.
Whilst developing the Screw Piling business Brian found a geotechnical and structural engineer interested and understanding the multi-turn Helix technology, who not only provided independent review and Certification to Helcon screw piling projects, but also saw Brian’s vision and advantages with the Castec Shoring Wall system. To this day, with full understanding of the Castec Shoring Wall technology, Paul Bekker from Bekker Engineering, is engaged to provide the geotechnical/structural engineering design and certification for Castec to the Helcon clientele
Sadly and un-expectantly we lost Brian in November of 2016. However, his realised vision and determination continues to live on in Helcon with his two son’s continuing his legacy within this family orientated company. Today you can contact Damien Carpenter who will look after your Castec Shoring Wall and Screw Piling needs.
